A Majolica 'Isle of Man' teapot and cover, probably William Brownfield & Sons, modelled as a three-legged sailor seated on a rope coil and holding a furled Union flag, his third leg forming the spout, his head the cover, his shoulders moulded with the Three Legs symbol, 2nd half 19th century, a small chip to the hat, 22cm. Brownfield was commissioned to produce these teapots for W. Broughton's shop in Douglas. Some examples bear an advertising slogan in slip to the base of the pot.
