A rare pair of Herculaneum creamware chargers early 19th century
A rare pair of Herculaneum creamware chargers early 19th century, the well printed in black with an oval portrait of Lord Nelson, the rim with a narrow black border, impressed marks, 52.3cm. (2)
The portrait on this service is after a stipple engraving by William Evans, in turn after a drawing by Henry Edridge. Cf. Richard Walker, The Nelson Portraits, p.196. Very few oval dishes from this service are recorded.
