A rare Gilbody figure of a Levantine lady

A rare Gilbody figure of a Levantine lady, wearing a pink headdress and a long yellow robe, a floral dress and pink undergarments, she stands with her arms in a theatrical pose raised upon a pad base applied with flowers and leaves. Minor faults. c.1754-60, 17.5cm. Cf. Made in Liverpool, the Northern Ceramic Society exhibition 1993, No.75 for a pair of figures in the white. These figures were probably copied from Meissen originals, Staffordshire versions are also known as well as copies at Longton Hall (See E.C.C. Transactions Vol.10 part 5, P.346)
