An 18th century bronze bell
An 18th century bronze bell, the reeded body inscribed 'JOHN MARSHALL ESQR 1783', 34.5cm high.
This bell probably relates to John Marshall (1755-1835), the American politician and fourth Chief Justice of the United States (1801-1835). Marshall had English ancestry and this bell was possibly made to commemorate his wedding on 3rd January 1783 to Mary Ambler.
