A rare George V Staffordshire pottery ceramic colour sample plate, painted with samples of enamel colours, inscribed and numbered, the centre inscribed 'ROBERT EMERY, COBRIDGE STOKE ON TRENT 1919', 22cm diameter.

Purchased from William Agnew at the Grosvenor House Fine Art Fair.

Robert Gordon Emery was a Staffordshire based colour manufacturer and chemist. He was based at 69 London Road, Stoke. There is a similar earthenware plate by W. J. Furnival in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
