λ  A 19th century French ebonised nécessaire, with brass, ivory, mother of pearl and pewter inlay, the silk lined interior with a fitted pull-out tray fitted with mother of pearl reel holders, a glass scent bottle, gilt metal handled scissors, a bodkin and needle case, the base with the remains of a trade label, c.1860-70, 8cm high, 18cm wide, 11.6cm deep.

Purchased from Antiquites Jean-Luc Moreau, Paris, 5th April 1999.
