A large early Victorian carved giltwood settee
A large early Victorian carved giltwood settee, the beaded and moulded frame carved with leaves and flowers, to a central crest of a pair of wing female figures supporting an urn of flowers and fruit, with a pair of oval backs flanking a a central kidney shape panel with pierced leaf scroll and lappet supports, upholstered pink damask fabric, the serpentine seat on cabriole legs to ceramic castors, the rail indistinctly inscribed in pencil, 110.7cm high, 250cm wide, 87cm deep.
Provenance: By repute formerly the property to Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma. Removed from Classiebawn Castle, Mullaghmore, County Sligo. Purchased by the vendor c.1960.
