inlaid with stringing and banding, the drop-leaf top with a sliding central reversible chequer board revealing a backgammon board inlaid with ebony and bone lozenges, above a double sided frieze drawer, on trestle ends and splay legs

See Carl L. Crossman, The Decorative Arts of the China Trade, pp. 236 and 237, pl.88 and 89, for two comparable examples with similar interiors. According to the author the interiors were based on a gaming box by Thomas Chippendale for Paxton House in 1774.
