decorated overall with Greek key borders on a fine foliate ground, with an oval cartouche with the initial 'Y' for the de Bude Young family, the interior with five lidded boxes containing a quantity of mother of pearl counters, of various shapes the majority also with the same initial 'Y' (A lot)

Provenance
Colonel Frederick de Bude Young, CMG (1865–1920) was a distinguished British Indian Army officer, born at Naini Tal, India, in 1865. The son of Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Elliot Young of the Bengal Army, he followed his father into military service and transferred to the Indian Army in 1890, serving principally with the 6th Bengal Cavalry and later commanding the 32nd Lancers. He saw active service on the North-West Frontier, including the Tirah Campaign, and subsequently served in the South African War.During the First World War Young served at Gallipoli, where he was Commandant of the Anzac Advanced Base, and was appointed a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (CMG) in 1916. He married Alice Maude Mary Pirie in 1893; their eldest son, Martin Courtland de Bude Young, was killed at the Battle of Loos in 1915. Young retired from the Indian Army in 1919 and died at Ripley, Surrey, in 1920.
