A RARE JAPANESE ARITA DISH WITH SPIDER AND WAVES

The large dish decorated with a small spider standing precariously on a leaf floating on crashing waves; rendered in underglaze blue, gilt, black and red enamels; the reverse with three rough spur marks, together with a tomobako (wood box), 22.2cm.
