TWO JAPANESE IRO-NABESHIMA PIECES BY THE IMAEMON WORKSHOP
HEISEI ERA, 20TH/21ST CENTURY
One an oval, scalloped-edge bowl with moulded basketweave pattern to the exterior, the inside painted with flower sprays, the base signed Imaemon, with a tomobako (wood box) inscribed Nishiki kamon soku en fukabachi (polychrome flower motif, moulded, round and deep bowl) and Hizen, Arita, Imaemon with red seal Imaizumi Toen; the other an ashtray with chrysanthemum and other flowers, signed Imaemon, with a tomobako inscribed Nishiki hana-e haizara (polychrome flower motif ashtray) and Imaemon, with a red seal for Imaemon; both pieces painted in underglaze blue and red, cyan and yellow enamels; 16.3cm and 16.6cm.
