SHŌWA ERA, 20TH CENTURY
The first of flattened globular form with a short narrow neck, the base signed Tetsunosuke, with a tomobako (wood box) inscribed Seidō tsubo (bronze vase) and Shōwa 38-nen, shinshū, Dai jūsan-kai Jōshō-ten shuppin (early autumn 1963, exhibited at the 13th Jōshō exhibition) and signed Tetsunosuke with his red seal mark; another of tall cylindrical form with a slightly narrower waist by Tetsuyama Somekawa (b.1941), a stamped mark underneath reading Ka, its tomobako inscribed 1973-nen, Shudō tsutsu-hanairi (red-patinated bronze flower vase) and the inside Nitten Shinsain, Yamagata-shi, Tetsuyama saku (1973, The Japan Fine Arts Exhibition, Yamagata City, made by Tetsuyama) and with a red seal for Somekawa; the third vase of globular form with a wide mouth, signed Seihō, 27.9cm max.
