A JAPANESE DAGGER (TANTŌ)
Late-koto blade 11.75 in., hira-zukuri, single hi to the omote and double hi to the ura - all extending to the nakagojiri, gunome hamon, itame-hada, nakago with three ana, mumei but attributed to Kanemoto (15th century), gilt-copper and shakudō habaki, in shirasaya; black lacquered tsuka with transverse fluting and chased brass mounts, red lacquered saya with oblique fluting and mounted en suite to the tsuka; offered with a Juho Token Kenkyukai certificate for the blade and a Nihon Tosogu Kenkyukai certificate for the koshirae.
