EDO/MEIJI, 19TH CENTURY

Mostly decorated in gold and black lacquer, one an unusual saya (sheath) inrō with a rough ishime surface imitating stone or bronze, the side with a dragon and opening to reveal three gold-lacquer cases embellished with implements for the tea ceremony; the others variously decorated with birds, landscapes, flowers, horses, and figures, attached to various bone and stag antler netsuke, one shaped as a human leg.
