AN UNUSUAL JAPANESE BRONZE VASE AND COVER
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
Of tall baluster form and raised on thee shaped feet, the cover cast as a distraught fisherman being attacked by sea creatures, a large octopus wrapping its tentacles around his left leg whilst tickling his foot, the body of the vase with many fish and further octopuses, the lower part depicting a bed of seashells, 47cm overall.
