Jacobite Uprising of 1745: a fascinating collection of manuscripts, contemporary or early copies, comprising:
i) "List of Bills, found by the grand Jury against Persons Excepted from the late Act of Grace or Indemnity", prefaced verso "The Names of the Outlaw'd Rebells - a Copy of that sent by General Churchill", a numbered list of forty-two names, most followed by brief details of their current situation, including: "1 James Farquarson of Balmurle", "14 Arthur Gordon, of Carnousie........near Old Meldrum", "25 Jams. Robertson of Blair's Ferry.........3 miles above Blair in Atholl", and "27 Sir Alexr. Bannerman of Elsick..........Dead long ago Aberdeen".
ii) A duplicate of a requisition order for the Jacobite Forces: "I William Earl of Kilmarnock, Colonel of Horse Grenadiers of his Royal highness Charles Prince of Wales Regent. By his highness Special Command require you the Lord provost of Kelso to provide Billetts & provisions for 4000 foot & 1000 horse at Kelso & thereabout... " and further "Kelso Novemr. the 4th 1745. 10 oclock before noon. Just now a party of the highland Gentlemen came to this place & delivered to me George Pringle Baily of Kelso the Princip.. order whereof the above in a just Copy. I accordingly Transmit you this Copy thereof. George Pringle", prefaced verso "The Mock Prince's Orders".
iii) A numbered list of regiments prefaced verso "a Computation of the Forces of the Rebels", four columns under the titles "Foot", "Ridgmonts", "Colnoll" and "Men", above a paragraph enumerating miscellaneous personnel: "their are severll of volunters from other places which.......are Computed at 1000", concluding with a description of "hors": "Life guards & Ld Elcho / Kilmarnocks 160.....Ld Pitsligos hors - 140... totol of hors & foot 7580".
iv) "Arg-les Levie....Duke Daniel...A New Ballad..", a song or poem in twelve verses, prefaced verso "Duke of Argles Levee [sic]", beginning "With Other Honest Scotts one day / I waited on Arg-le / Than whom no better Patriot Breaths / In all our British Isle / Sing Muse that never sang before / How well we were Reviewd / and what he said, and else also / How Nobly we Behaved" and continuing in this vein.
v) An account or receipt for goods bought by "The Honble. Colonel Welsh" from "Jno Parsons", and dated March 21st 1759, items including: 12 Table Spoons at 7lb 6s 2d and "1 Chast. milk Ewer" at 1lb 4s 6d, prefaced verso "M. Parsons bill for plate &c."

Several of the persons listed in (i) "The Names of the Outlaw'd Rebells - a Copy of that sent by General Churchill" are found in "Jacobites of Aberdeenshire and Banffshire in the Forty-Five" by Alistair and Henrietta Tayler, pub. Milne & Hutchinson, Aberdeen 1928.
