The Canadian Memorial Cross presented in commemoration of Lieutenant Alec John Kitto, Canadian Field Artillery, George V (LIEUT. A. J. KITTO.), hand engraved, very fine.

Alec John Kitto was born in Slough on the 31st of October 1880, and he was commissioned in the C.E.F. in May 1916. He served in France with the 3rd Trench Mortar Battery, 3rd Canadian Division. On the 16th of September 1916, during a Canadian advance, he was shot through the heart by a German sniper who had concealed himself in a shell hole within the Canadian lines.
