Charles Foster disembarked in France on the 19th of July 1915. He was mentioned in a despatch of Sir Douglas Haig of the 9th of April 1917 (L.G. 18/05/1917), and his M.M. was gazetted under the heading "for bravery in the field". He was discharged in June 1919, having attained the rank of Company Quartermaster Sergeant.
