A William IV Regimental silver Fiddle and Thread pattern marrow scoop, 83rd (County of Dublin) Regiment of Foot,

Raised in Dublin in 1783 as the 83rd Regiment of Foot. Served with distinction in the Peninsular war, in Ceylon 1817-18, Canada 1837 and the Indian Mutiny of 1857. In 1881, the 83rd and 86th regiments combined to become the 1st and 2nd bn of the Royal Irish Rifles.
