Two silver soup plates,
one by The Barnards, London 1844, the other by Henry and Arthur Vander, London 1826,
circular form, gadroon border, one engraved with an armorial, diameters 24.8cm, approx. weight 40.5oz. (2)

These are the arms of the Murray family, Earls of Mansfield within the Order of the Thistle with the arms of Murray impaling Ellison. These are for David Murray, 4th Earl of Mansfield (1806-1898), he sat as a Member of Parliament for several constituencies between 1830 and 1840 and as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 1852, 1858 and 1859. He received the Order of the Thistle in 1843.
