A massive late-19th century French parcel-gilt silver jardinère,
no apparent maker's mark,
shaped oval form, the body with pierced foliate scroll decoration, scroll handles, the sides with a crowned vacant cartouche, on four heavy scroll feet mounted with silver-gilt semi-nude classical maidens, each holding oak leaf garlands, (small section a/f), with a pull-out silver liner with ring handles, length 61cm, height 23cm, approx. weight 520 oz.
