A George III silver two-handled soup tureen and cover,
by Thomas Robins, London 1810,
oval bellied form, leaf capped fluted scroll handles, the domed pull-off cover with a band of fluted decoration, and fluted central handle, engraved with an armorial and crest, on four foliate capped paw feet, length 39.5cm, approx. weight 106oz.
The crest is that of Calvert and the arms are those of Calvert impaling Macklean of Scotland.
Provenance: purchased from Mary Cooke Antiques, 1990's.
