Boer War, a group of three to a Farrier Staff Sergeant in the Dragoon Guards; Q.S.A., 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast (engraved slanting caps, 2858 S.S. Far. G. F. Mirfield, 7/D.G.), K.S.A., 2 clasps, 1901, 1902 (imp. 2858 S. Serjt.-Far. G. F. Mirfield, 7th Dragn. Gds.); Long Service and Good Conduct, Ed. VII (2858 Far. S. Sjt. G. F. Mirfield. 7th Dragn. Gds.), brooch mounted in reverse order, very fine; Royal Tournament, 1897, bronze 1st Prize medal (Sword v Sword), 38mm; Transvaal Rifle Association silver medal, undated, by Mappin & Webb, 32mm, in case of issue, both very fine; Regimental silver collar badge; bronze boxing medal, worn; Marksman's cloth 'flash', these contained in a Princess Mary Christmas tobacco box from 1914. (lot) Sold with recipient's "Certificate of Discharge", 7th April, 1906, aged 39 years 5 months, having served 21 years, his trade listed as "cabinet maker"; "Certificate of Character on Discharge", where noted as "Very good. Absolutely trustworthy, reliable, sober and honest …"; Death Certificate, 26th April, 1927; several photographs, including portraits (one damaged), and another as a Post Card showing him with a ferret, "had some good sport with the rats today … we got 6 big ones …"; "plastic" greeting card and wedding day souvenir booklet
