£1,000 - £1,500

By Steve Wager, a modern silver candlestick,
London 2008,
modelled after an oak tree stump with cast stylised decoration, height 18.2cm, approx. weight 34.1oz

Provenance: A Private Collection.

The candlestick is inspired by the Great Storm of October 1987.

Steve Wager took a pre-apprentice course at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London and then served a five-year apprenticeship with Algernon Asprey of Bruton Street where he was indentured to Keith (Edward) Asprey. By then, John Asprey - of Asprey’s of Bond Street - had taken over Algernon Asprey’s business, and Steve Wager spent over 25 years working for Asprey until he was made redundant in 2002. He then he set up his own business at his silversmithing workshop in Hatton Garden.
