A good Elizabeth I/James I Wessex seal top spoon with a large, gilt, Salisbury 'A' type terminal, pricked 'I.G.' over '1651', struck once in the bowl with a pelleted and segmented circular mark*, by an unascribed maker, Wessex area 1590-1610, 6.9in (17.5cm) long, 1.8oz. * See Jackson's Revised pp. 279 for an illustration of the mark as seen on an apostle spoon c. 1600.
