A SMALL JAPANESE KO-KUTANI DISH
EDO PERIOD, 17TH CENTURY
Decorated with a thatched pavilion amongst vegetation and by a rocky outcrop, with two sailboats in the distance; painted in bright gosai enamels (red, yellow, green, deep blue, and purple), most of the dish left undecorated; the base with a homare (esteemed) mark used by the Chokichidani kiln, 14.5cm.
