FOUR JAPANESE BRONZE VASES
SHŌWA/HEISEI, 20TH CENTURY
The first a wall vase cast as a section of bamboo, signed Joūn with a kao for Kitamura Joūn (act.1960s), in an inscribed tomobako (wood box), signed and sealed Joūn; the second with a crumpled cylindrical body, marked Shigehiro for Takahashi Shigehiro III (b.1925), the inscribed tomobako also signed Shigehiro and sealed; the third with a triangular, lobed body reminiscent of a flower bud, marked underneath, with an inscribed tomobako, signed and sealed, possibly for Takato Shizuo (1910-1988); the last a cylindrical wall vase with an uneven rim, a ring at the back for suspension, in an inscribed tomobako; 24cm max.
