A Venetian basket-hilted sword (schiavona)

A Venetian basket-hilted sword (schiavona), double-edged blade 35.75 in., a short fuller to each side inscribed 'IM DOMNI', engraved marks of a running wolf, guard formed of flattened bars in a sweeping arrangement and with a thumb ring, guard swamped twice with Venetian arsenal mark of a winged lion 'in moleca', shield-shaped pommel with border engraving and applied star-shaped ornament, re-bound grip, 17th/18th century.
