£1,000 - £1,500

£4,064

A George I silver toilet box,
by Humphry Payne, London 1719,
circular form, the pull-off cover engraved with an armorial within foliate scroll mantling, on a spread circular foot, height 5.7cm, diameter 8.4cm, approx. weight 10oz.

Provenance: A Private Collection.
The arms are those of Hunloke impaling Throgmorton for Sir Thomas Windsor Hunloke (1684-1752), 3rd Bt. of Wingerworth Hall, Co. Derby, who in 1720 married Charlotte (1700-1738), daughter of Sir Robert Throckmorton, 2nd Bt. of Coughton. It is possible the box was part of a marriage gift.
