A suite of three George II silver tea caddies,

upright rectangular form, chased scroll, foliate and shell decoration, slide-off covers with hinged shell finials, the central caddy on four scroll bracket feet, the underside inscribed 'Eliza Le Sage Clement The Gift of Her Aunt Le Sage', in a fitted velvet-lined shagreen case, with a lock and key, with gilded brass fittings and initialled 'AS SC', height of central caddy 10.5cm, length of case 23.3cm, approx. weight 37.9oz. (3)

Provenance: A Private Collection.
Listed in collection inventory as purchased from Wartski, 3 March 1938.

The caddies were probably a gift to Eliza Le Sage Clement (1813-1888), the daughter of Diana (nee Le Sage) and Samuel Clement. Diana was the youngest daughter of Augustin Le Sage, from the renowned family of silversmiths.
