A fine Elizabeth I parcel-gilt silver chalice,
maker's mark of a reverse S within a sun in splendour, London 1561,
tapering circular bowl, with a central engraved band of decoration within two raised ribs, gilded and decorated rim, on a raised circular foot with bands of gilded decoration, the underside with an old museum loan number, height 11cm, approx. weight 5.6oz.

Provenance: A Private Collection.
Listed in collection inventory as purchased from Christie, Manson and Woods Ltd. London, 9 June 1943, lot 52. (hammer price £500, buyer Lumley).
